The Plain Township Planning Department is responsible for planning and economic development activities as set forth by the Plain Township Comprehensive Mini Master Plan.

These activities also include the development and oversight of programs designed to encourage businesses to locate in the township.

Economic Development Update

There is no place for businesses or raising a family quite like Plain Township, Stark County, Ohio. Exciting developments are happening, new residents and businesses continue to locate, and current township businesses have chosen our township as a place to expand operations.

Our Parks Department events draw in excess of 100,000 people per year, many of whom come from outside the Township and help contribute to our vibrant business base. Some of the many events that draw these crowds to our parks are; Winterfest, Salute to Veterans, Farmers Markets, our annual Easter Egg Hunt and a township favorite, the splash pad at Veterans Memorial Park. If you and your family are looking for sports, then we can accommodate you with many sporting events like Baseball, Soccer and Lacrosse Leagues and Tournaments. Plain Local School District offers an excellent K-12 education, and we are centrally located to four colleges that are within minutes of the township.

At Plain Township, we have much to be proud of and in this article, you will note our very pro-business attitudes and a culture of innovation. With more than 38,000 residents, Plain Township is the fifth largest township in Ohio.

New businesses operate alongside an assortment of established businesses that include fitness, retail, technology, manufacturing, and dining. The U.S. Census indicates that one third (33.1%) of the Plain Township residents have attained a Bachelor's Degree or Higher. That is 1.5 times higher than the rate in Stark County, which is at 22.6%, and 25% Higher than the rate in Ohio of 26.7%. Our residents not only provide a great customer base, but they also provide our businesses with a skilled talent pool.
