From its early beginnings as a sparsely settled, agricultural community, Plain Township has grown slowly to become the prosperous urban community of today with over 38,000 residents.
Our Township offices have a full-time Administrator, Fire, Fiscal, Highway, Parks, and Zoning Department that are eager to help you with any needs or concerns that you may have. The Township has an exclusive contract with the Stark County Sheriff's Department providing the Township with 15 Deputies, one Detective and a School Resource Officer. The Township also provides a fleet of 16 cruisers and one un-marked vehicle.
Plain Township has no income tax, is a Home Rule Township, uses Enterprise Zones, Community Reinvestment Areas that offer tax incentives, and has a strong relationship with Regional Planning and area Development Boards.
Our Township offers high quality safety services responsive to the needs of residents and businesses. Our 4 fire stations are manned 24 hours a day, 365 days a year with certified Firefighter/Paramedics who are well trained in advanced cardiac life support and basic trauma life support. The proactive Fire Prevention Bureau teaches fire safety, prevention & code enforcement to adults and children through annual events throughout our Township.
Enjoy 102 acres of year-round green space at any one of our three beautiful parks. Our Parks Department serves Plain Township residents by preserving open space, offering programs for Township residents of all ages and creating active and passive recreational experiences. Our goal is to enhance people's lives and the community they live in.
Plain Township has high quality roads and well maintained infrastructures. Our road crews give prompt attention to drainage and flooding problems and winter snow removal. Someone is available 24 hours a day for emergencies that may arise when the Township offices are closed. EPA’s NPDES storm water management program for clean water is also implemented.
Our friendly Zoning Department serves the community by protecting residential standards and property values for Plain Township residents. This ensures that property is in compliance with zoning and nuisance requirements which assures the health and safety of the public and improves the appearance and quality of living conditions in neighborhoods to help maxi-mize property values. A Mini Master plan is updated to guide strategic preservation and development in the Township. Find forms, zoning resolutions, etc. online 24/7.
