I am often asked how Plain Township residents can help keep Plain Township a great place to live. One way is to ensure the tax dollars you spend stay right here in Plain Township.
Tom Wolf, Fiscal Officer
Did you know part of the fee you pay for license plates is returned to the tax district you live in?
This is why it is important to look closely at your Certificate of Registration for your vehicles and make sure that if you live within Plain Township, the Tax District is shown as Plain Township on your vehicle registration.
Annually registering a vehicle includes a license plate tax fee from the State of Ohio. Did you know a portion of this fee comes back to Plain Township BUT only as long as it is properly designated?
Plain Township residents should ensure tax dollars are returned to Plain Township, by taking a moment to verify with the BMV (Bureau of Motor Vehicles) that Plain Township is listed on the vehicle registration prior to renewal or new registration. If the license plates renewal is done by mail, please verify that Plain Township is designated as the recipient of the tax dollars. If Plain Township is not specifically designated as the area where you live, the money will NOT come back to our community. Our Taxing District number is 7677 and the City/Township is Plain.
Thank you for helping keep Plain Township tax dollars here in our community.
The monies received from the license plate registration are used to purchase road salt for the maintenance of our township roads in the winter time.
Our township also receives part of the gasoline tax from sales at gas stations within the township. These funds too are used only for Road Department purposes.
So this is a good reason to "shop" local to make sure the money you spend comes back to help Plain Township.
