Zoning Permits - Home Occupations

Home Occupations are defined as: An accessory use to a residential dwelling, which use is clearly incidental and secondary to the use of the dwelling for dwelling purposes and does not change the character thereof.

Home Occupations can be of two types:
   1. a permitted use not requiring any zoning certificate; or
   2. a conditionally permitted use requiring Board of Appeals approval.

Permitted Use

In order to qualify as a permitted use not requiring a zoning certificate, the applicant must adhere to all of the following conditions:

Conditionally Permitted Use

A person may apply for a conditional use certificate for a home occupation which does not fully comply with any of the requirements outlined above.   This use requires Board of Appeals approval.   An Application for Conditional Use shall be filed with the Zoning Director and submitted to the Board of Zoning Appeals for consideration in accordance with Article XI-Conditional Zoning Certificates.
